Volunteer!
Just a small
donation of your time is greatly appreciated! There are many
ways to get involved, so hopefully you'll see something that
can work for you.
-
Help in your
child's classroom. Teachers can always use an extra
set of hands, especially during special projects or for
classroom parties/events.
-
Meet the
Masters Art Program. Without this, our school would
not have an art program. No experience necessary, but if you
feel like you are the crafty sort then this could be a great
chance to share something wonderful with your child or the
kids in another class. To assist with Meet the Masters,
indicate that as your interest area on your 2 Hour Power
Registration!
-
Popcorn
Fridays. It takes a lot of manpower to get a few
hundred bags of popcorn popped, handed out and sold during a
busy lunch recess. Every other Friday, from about
9:30a to 1:30p we can always use some helping hands.
-
Special Events.
Staffing a booth at a carnival, assisting with crafts, field
days, etc. Throughout the year we have both day and
evening events that can always benefit from parent
involvement.
2 Hour Power
If you are
starting to think it must be hard to keep track of everyone
who wants to help... you are correct. But thanks to the
wonders of technology, we are now excited to be using a new
program called "2 Hour Power." It's a philosophy and a
management tool all in one.
The philosophy is
that if each family could pledge to give just two hours
to their school, those small contributions would add up.
And this helps take the mystery and guesswork out of
volunteering. Many of you may think "I don't know what I
could do" or "if I offer to help, I'll get roped into helping
with everything and I just don't have time..." By pledging two
hours, you can be confident we will help place you with a
project that works for you -- and that no token of assistance
will go unnoticed.
The software is a
web-based tool that allows us to create a database of willing
volunteers. We can search based on interest or
availability, and also track the time spent by each volunteer.

Volunteer Registration &
Certification
The District has
a new process for getting set up to volunteer in the schools,
and you can submit your application online. The process
is not to make it difficult for you to participate, but is for
the safety of our children so the schools know who is going to
be on campus.
View the information on
Volunteer Registration & Certification on the new District
web site. |
